Hi Folks! I'm doing some research on the influence that the band the Grateful Dead has had on the American folk music scene. So I have two questions for all you folkies. 1. Do you, as folk music performers/fans, have any strong feelings about the music of the Grateful Dead? This includes both their orgiginal songs (many of which are based on folk songs), and their covers of traditional songs (eg. Cold Rain and Snow, Babe it Ain't no Lie, Jackaroe, etc...). 2. Have you ever performed, or have you ever heard anyone else perform, a song by the Grateful Dead at a song circle or other folk music gathering? If so, what song? On a couple of occasions I have seen postings here by people looking for lyrics or chords to Grateful Dead songs. This suggests to me that at least a few of their songs have entered the folk circut. What do you guys think, are there any Grateful Dead songs that are destined to become "traditional"?
