Thread Name: Origins: Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen
I have the exact opposite problem; I'm looking for the Yiddish lyrics of "Bei mir bist du schon." Since I work with elderly patients, I sing Andrews sisters' songs with them. I do know the chorus of the song in English, if it's of any help:

Bie mir bist du schon
Please let me explain
Bie mir bist du schon means you're grand;
Bie mir bist du schon
Again I'll explain
It means you're the fairest in the land(2nd time: that I'm begging for your hand)
I could say bella bella, even say wunderbar,
Each language only helps me tell you, how grand you are.
I tried to explain, bei mir bist du schon,
So kiss me, and say you'll understand.

I hope to hear from you!
