McGrath, I think the people who use the filters don't even like reading the BS thread titles. I also think the filter would eliminate threads with "absolutely," "aBSolutely," "aBSent," and "staBS" in the titles.

Reta, it wasn't a "thoughtless request!" Nobody should feel like they can't ask a question or make a suggestion around here.

The bottom line (I think) is that people don't use the BS prefix because they think it is an accurate (or very nice) description of what they write. If the label were something like "Non-music, (NM)" or "Gen" they'd probably use the prefix. It would be pretty damned offensive to me to be expected to label a thread in which I announced someone I loved just died as "BS."
