I never realised until I was a teenager that eggnog was meant as a Christmas treat, to me it was a part of Harvest time on the farm. My Grandma used to make up a big batch of eggnog every day during harvest(here in Kansas that's July-Augustish)put it ice cold in a thermos and take it to my Grandpa who was out in the field on the combine...apparently he loved the stuff (minus alchohol of course) and my Grandma figured, wierd as it was, that all the protein from the eggs made a good lunch extra to keep her hardworking man nourished on a hot summer's day!
