Today the appeal specialist (Miss Claudia) at Health Advocate introduced herself. She has begun the review of my medical records.

I spent way too long yesterday going over the bulk of the records with a fine-tooth comb to spot items that show the medical necessity of my having been in the hospital, which is what the appeal is about. I got through about 80 of the 100+ pages; Ashley had sent them to me in PDF form so I could look in one screen and make notes in a WordPad file. When I can stomach those last pages I will group the types of info into a chart to discussion with Claudia.

We also need to get a letter from the referring doc outlining what he had told me about the expected aftercare needs; I am mulling how to draft that request since he will probably write the letter from whatever I draft for him from my recollections of that conversation before the surgery.
