Just came across this March 06 post .Was trying to find Eddie , a friend of mine from school days . Sadly , just found he died in 2006 . Have not located an obituary yet but am still trying . Eddie ( b 1942) lived in Leigh and was at De La Salle , Salford till 1957 . Family then moved to Crosby where he went to Merchant Taylors . BSc in Chemistry from Liverpool , PhD from Manchester . Eddie got his first guitar in Crosby - remember it well !!
Eddie was a researcher at University of North Staffs Hospital ( now Keele) for many years .Published several scientific papers. Later taught at Newcastle under Lyme .At time of his death he had been living in Warwick for a while .
From a colleague of his , I heard that a folk group of his( in Stoke area ?) did very well with an album including "Streets of London" - maybe won some award? Did find couple of photos of Eddie from a comedy night of the Warwick Folk Group , then under name "Oak Room Folk Club ". Eddie was on stage doing an impression of Ozzy Osbourne complete with wig - so hopefully was still enjoying life and having some fun .
Hope this helps . A reminder to stay in touch with old friends - gone before you know it !
