Well, ma'am, I have been aware of it gradually as Miss Maggie showed me the ropes and got me trained up. She keeps a pretty close eye on me, though; she follows me to every room of the house during the day just to make sure she isn't missing anything, and she is quick to straighten me out if I go wrong.
