Thread Name: Lyr Req: On Wings of Song (Heine, Mendelssohn)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: On Wings of Song (Heine, Mendelssohn)
I learned this song in 1971-72 at school. What I remember is

On wings of song I'll bear thee away to fairy land.
There lies my sweet-scented garden awaiting your dainty hand.
The moonbeams are filling my garden with silvery lanterns of light.
And lotus flowers are waiting to welcome thee tonight.
And lotus flowers are waiting to welcome thee tonight.

The rose and violet blossom for thee in this garden so rear
Stars are above in the heaven aglow in the scent-laden air.
Away in the distant shadows the woodland creatures play
... rejoicing on its way

That's as much as I remember from 1972. This is a beautiful song and wish I could remember the rest.
