My project also is a downsize. The actual move is years off, so I get to finish prep that started the day the kids moved out. We are looking at a specific property that will either come through and be IT, or be the size of what ends up as IT. Thus I know the approximate layout, as well as the lot size. So as I move thru this house working on stuff, my eye and mind are doing background "shopping." Like this: "OH! I know where YOU are going to be sitting, and how you will be used...."

It started by my designating years ago, "eventual keepers" and "eventual leave-behinds." The great evolution is that for some years we will rent the new place out-- which means round one of "leavers" will furnish it for the tenant and round two will be to ditch that stuff THEN, once we are set to live in it, and bring in the keepers.

And now I know the square footage. :~)

Right now the most fun part is mentally furnishing the outdoor part! :~)
