In a recent thread on the Oxford Heritage Society I mentioned its Cambridge equivalent, the St Lawrence Society, one of whose founders in early 1950s was Stan Bootle [aka Stan Kelly], who was a year or two before me at the University, and of which the late Rory McEwen, the same year as mine, matric 1952, was a fellow-member. Any other former members on Mudcat? And can anyone cast any light on why it was called St Lawrence? -- which for some reason [unlike me, as generally, like Dickens' Arthur Clennam, "I want to know, you know"] I never got round to ascertaining at the time.
