Iffn y'd quit jumpin in her lap while she's snoozin maybe it'd stay where it's put. (?)

"Chair creep" with recliners often happens when the counterbalance springs get a little weak so that when you recline, or sit back up, you hit the end stops hard enough to lift the weight off one end or the other and the feet don't come down exactly where the came up from. "Bouncing" back and forth between the up and down may also flex the structural parts so that they flip you farther each time, since the parts "relax" when the weight is off and spread one way or t'other when the load bears 'em down again.

This may be more frequent if the whole mechanism has gotten a little worn and it takes more effort to change positions than it should, since when you try a little harder you get a little farther on each hump.

Sometimes a careful inspection will find a few lag bolts or bolt/nut points that can be tightened, but in most recliners once things loosen up torquing them up won't be very permanent.

If the mechanism seems "stiff" a little grease wherever there's a shiny spot (that indicates something rubs) sometimes will smooth things out for a while; but of course you don't want a thin oil that might drip on the carpet, or more than a thin coat of wheel bearing grease or somethin' similarly "sticky" that might stay where you put it a little longer.

And the "carpet cups" that have little pointy feet on the bottom may help, although the real purpose of the little feet is so that whatever sits on top of them doesn't make a flat spot in the carpet under the cup. They're really intended to protect the carpet, not to anchor the furniture; but inventing new uses for stuff is the manly thing to do and nobody's gonna tell you it don't work if you act proud about it.
