Back in the 1930s, President Roosevelt based his policies on the principles expounded by Nick Hanauer in the video--and it worked.

There was a fair amount of cleaning up to do after the stock market crash that heralded the Great Depression, but by putting money back in the hands of ordinary people by employing them (WPA, CCC, TVA, etc.) and standing on the coat tails of the bankers and Wall Street wheeler-dealers through regulation (SEC, FDIC, etc.), FDR jump-started the economy and pretty well got the country back on track.

Would that President Obama would read up on FDR.
