Well, today's the day. In fact it should be happening right now. I sent him this thread Sunday evening and he and my mother enjoyed all the nice comments and advice. The latest update is that they are going to take a vein and an artery from his leg after all, so he'll be limping for a while. Thanks to everybody for your concern.
