I would suggest Alcester Folk Festival, 21-23 June weekend.

Alcester is a lovely little town in Warwickshire, on your route down to London, not far from Stratford-upon-Avon and all those Shakespearey connections... and the festival is very friendly, with opportunities to listen, join in and make new friends.

Quite a few Mudcatters attend, and we're a friendly bunch.
