My Wife loved squid as a child. After college (!965) she took off for Europe and traveled. She finally landed in Munich flat broke and a friend got her a job working in the kitchen of a Greek restaurant. Her main job seemed to consist of cleaning squid.
For two months -until she learned enough German to work as a waitress- she cleaned squid.
She can't look at calamari without getting queasy.
