Boston is a somewhat unusual place, at least for the US.

With Harvard, MIT, Boston University, Boston College, and Northeastern U all within about a five mile radius and each having multi-thousand students, a great many activities, even if "community sponsored," are more closely associated for those at a given school with a sponsored/authorized club or activity on their own campus.

While there almost certainly are a number of people in the area who may be aware of mudcat, and may participate here, it would seem unlikely that many of them would speak about "Boston activities" other than in terms of how they are applicable to their more local groups/organizations.

(Fifty years ago one of those schools claimed athletic teams in 124 sports, and only added football (American) about 20 years ago. Music, drama, art, history, etc are additional opportunities that are no less active.)

In other words, mudcatters in that area may have a very much stronger identification with other organizations than with the 'cat - although it would be interesting for the rest of us to know them for what they are ... and welcome them here.
