Most of our trees are deciduous, not evergreen, and the major problem I'm bucking in reclaiming the flower beds and the (miniscule) bit of grass (now mostly wild strawberries; I'm sooo upset...not) is raking off all the leaf mulch, acorns, etc. and pulling out the maple seedlings that sprout up everywhere. The leaf mulch smothered some of my favorite plants so I'm struggling to replace them.

The hemlocks up on the back bank (my yard is a narrow plateau just down from the crest of the hill -- my up-the-hill-neighbor's field) make a lovely cool "room" but I have to cut several of the major lower branches as they've now turned my once full sun flower bed into mostly shade. And the smaller trees down the slope all need to be cut down. I can do that myself, but I'll definitely need help to cut back the trees on the edge of the once cleared area.

The woods does not like to be kept at bay...

Linn
