It seems like no musicians are coming up with an answer so here is my attempt. If playing in the key of C here's what I do:
         
          For the verses:

          C---/C---
          F---/F---
          C---/A---
          D-G-/C---
      
          For the section starting "If we should etc etc

          E---/E---
          A---/A---
          D---/D---
          G---/G---
