Just finished reading "A Town is Born: The Fitzroy Crossing story" by Steve Hawke (2013) curiously coinciding with NAIDOC week. A link to a review in the Murdoch press is here:

No need to go back as far as the Tassie colony to see what went on in the name of God, Queen and Country. Actually, come to think of it, Republicans, or alleged Republicans (of the Australian variety) are noticeably quiet on the topic of Constitutional recognition of Australian Indigenous people! So much the first part of C21st anyway!
