Oh dear, SRS! With the loss of a friend, how else could a week be. Then the job stuff on top... I never met Kat and it stunned me out of being able to even think about posting. Took the wind right out of my sails.

We seem to be in process of making changes in 3 living spaces: the "mill", the city house, and R is also trying to get his parents' home, vacant for several years, back into livable condition. A bunch of stuff has ended up here (mill) which needs, imo, to go into a dumpster. This may come to pass. I do not need to be involved in that project. Except that I do not want Bruno's bits of time spent there when it is needed here at the mill.

Weds eve I went to the city and brought the drawers to my filing cabinet out here. The frame will follow and that declutters a fair space in the LR. My large desk, a replica of the one used by Charles Dickens, will be next. Then maybe R will not trip over the exercycle on his way to bed. Of course, if he went to bed before he fell asleep...

I am spending bits of time going through files and managed to turf out some papers but also finding lots of good info and re-filing to make it more accessible.

I wonder how long it will take to put a doorway from the first floor to the stairs so we can go up without going out one door and in the other - once was a duplex. THEN we could comfortably use the upstairs bedroom, and nice bathroom, and stop sleeping in the Dining room! I could even arrange the bright upstairs LR for company - if we could put some real furniture amidst the Victorian stuff - nice to look at but not very comfortable.

Meanwhile, out here in the country, the girls continue to be a force - NEED doors on K because that is where they were last night! I got up - about 1 am - and turned on lights and, "Come on, girls!" They came and I opened the back door and out they went! Not to return! YAY! a night's sleep.

Well, I seem to have been assigned the task of going out back and picking pieces out of the large pile of flooring for the K floor so I had best do that before it gets hot.
