Of course there are cures for all the ills you mention Ian, but they would all involve compulsion of one sort or another.
Compulsion does not always mean legislation.
In my youth there were very few obese people around and almost no obese children. We were active, had a healthy diet and wasted nothing.

To make inroads into obesity and unhealthy lives will take a huge social and political change, but hiv/aids amongst male homosexuals can be drastically cut by action now!
