This thread also reminded me of Steve's verse, the version we used to say (London, early 50s)

I went to the pictures tomorrow
I took a front seat at the back (or ... in the row)
I fell from the pit to the gallery
And hurt a front bone in my back.


There was also
The elephant is a pretty bird
It flits from bough to bough
It makes it's nest in a rhubarb tree
And whistles like a cow.


Must try that one out on me 5 yr old grandson.
