When I visited New Orleans (before Katrina did so something might have changed) there was a great jazz session at a place called "Donna`s", don`t remember which day of the week. Look out for Wahboard Chaz if you like Blues. Mountain Sprout for Bluegrass. Lots of good street musicians too.
