Good luck to you. I quit 12 years ago after smoking for 30 years. I just challenged myself and found it quite easy, I lost the constant craving after 2 weeks and graduallt it went away all together, and now hate the smell of tobacco. I did not need the patch, chewing gum (which is another thing I hate) or anything else., However, temptations did arise early on when I would be out having a few drinks with friends and some of them would smoke and offer me one etc, that was a real test. Don't give in, eat lots of fruit and most of all try not to think about quitting.
Get your mind on other topics, like counting your steps while walking, reading licence plate numbers, try to identify the make and model of cars etc. Keep your mind away from tobacco. Drink water, chew toothpicks, anything to keep you off them. If I can do anybody can because I really enjoyed a smoke. Keep at it and you will succeed. Again good luck.
