The version of this from the 1950s was Burl Ives. My dad heard it on the radio, sang it to my mom. It's been their song. I've searched for years. Pre-internet, a friend searched the archive of the CMA. No luck. If anyone has found it, I'd LOVE to get it for them while they're still around.
