I dug more of the new bed for asparagus this afternoon and after that put the resulting iris rhizomes in the greenhouse (still in the wheelbarrow). The back yard was policed, the compost emptied, and everything was piled over with weeds from the front. I have photos of the stages for construction a compost parfait - the trick to keeping the pets out of the food in the compost. I'll put this up as a blog (I haven't done that for a while!)

I took the dogs for a lovely mellow walk after that. Just as well we made the most of today because it drops precipitously overnight and the high tomorrow is 37^o. The low on Monday night is 19^o. I'm doing an on-again off-again thing with the front faucet cover - I watered the broccoli bed yesterday and today, then covered the faucet tonight in the face of the next few freezes.
