I was looking at four pics in an email of the Mandela Monument sculpture. I sent it to some readers herein. I wrote to Leadfingers who e'd me back : I am awestruck at the concept. Especially by the "journey" that I "see" in the approach. Furthest pic away... I cannot see him clearly and I might not visualize the hourglass of time (pic 3) that only came to my mind when I took time to view the pics together in thumbnail size. As I approach, I see him clearly (pic 4) and closer (pic 1), I see the nation of solidarity he built*. Finally, I see the individuals he freed through unity.

I surely hope you forward this to your cousin, A. It's a very shortened version of my thoughts and feelings about this amazing sculpture and, hey, I am just a good old boy from the back woods. I would truly love to hear his comments on, and his interpretation of, the monument. He fascinated me with his works during his, and your, all too short, visit with me.
