there seems to be also the theme of the sterility of Llewyn's surroundngs (abortions. showbiz breadhead agents, feral club owners) and the desperate anxiety of the characters Queen Jane and Dink for their unborn children.

I think also there is the inference that because the termination was on his mind that Llewyn came to make the wrong call at the audition. Perhaps he felt that the intensity of his reading of the song would produce something great. Mind you, he could have done with Dave Van Ronk there to play the guitar for him.
