School District RE-2 said a man in his 30s was seen in the area with camouflage and a backpack.

On Thursday, February 13, 2014 police told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that the "suspicious person" has been identified as a parent.

When you stop and think about it, those two sentences sure leave out a lot of information.

1. What time of day was it? Was it opening or closing time, when an adult might be expected to pick up a kid? Or was it the middle of the school day?

2. What did the man do? Did he walk confidently up to the front door, looking relaxed and pleasant, or did he hang around, just waiting (i.e, loitering).

3. If the student had a doctor's appt, or similar, and needed to be picked up, had the school been informed?

Me, I applaud the school for protecting and kids, and the police for checking the man out. Imagine the courage it takes to approach a man who might whip out a handgun and start shooting at the sight of you.
