Hi Mudcatters, Ive been looking into this song, I'll Never Get Drunk Anymore. It appears in Popular Songs Of Ireland by T. C. Croker and says the tune is "Mall Brook".

Accorsing to Tait's Edinburgh Magazine, Volume 6 The song is formed upon the Scottish ditty :

I'll never get drunk anymore,
I'll never get drunk anymore:
But aye when I smell good liquor,
I'll just look in at the door.

And also there is a song by the same title on youtube.com reorded by Riley Puckett.

Question 1: Is the American (Puckett) song derived from the Irish/Scottish versions?
