Thread Name: Lyr Req: 'No more days of school' (Kids song)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: 'No more days of school' (Kids song)
Boarding school 1947-1952: we traditionally sang this at the end of each term (but only at the end of term).   The tune derived from the first two lines of Good King Wenceslas, repeated ad infinitum. The first couplet was always
No more Latin no more French
No more sitting on the old school bench
I've forgotten most of the others, but one, not cited above, was
No more walking two by two
Like a f***ing kangaroo
When I got home for Christmas at the end of my first term, aged 8, I recited this in all innocence to my mum. (In those days that kind of language was not such common currency, at least in 'nice respectable' households). I'll never ever forget the stick I got!
