Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort
Thanks all, the meeting with the solicitor went really well, we are going to have to sell mum's bungalow, and that will only " buy" us a couple of years care , keeping her in our home which is what Billy and I wish, unlike the social worker ( who cancelled at the last minute but is coming today at 3pm ) The solicitor is going to apply for " continuing care" funding which is very difficult and can take upto a year, mum is borderline at the moment but as she is declining weekly we may get it in time.My main concern is what do we do when the money runs out?

I am more prepared for this afternoon's meeting," I will not be bullied" mantra at the ready! I have realised that dressing my mum beautifully and doing her hair everyday may be a disadvantage, she smiles and waves like the Queen to everyone she meets and spending five minutes with her does not convey how bad her Dementia is to the social worker who has never met her before?

It really should not be about money but about the person being contented and well cared for. I just read a book by Sally Magnerson " where the memories go" Breaks your heart but she understands so well.

sailing on, Up Spaw and love to all.
