Aha, now there's a vital one. My late wife Valerie, who was on the whole quite an intelligent person [1st class Cambridge degree as mature student after missing out on univ first time around] maintained until her dying day that nobody but Connery could play Bond, in tones as if it were some sort of god-given unshakeable Law of the Universe established since the Creation or the Big Bang, whichever preceded.

To my questions as to whether the same applied to Garrick, or even Burbage, regarding the playing of Hamlet, she would simply stick metaphorical fingers in her ear and say it again.
