Sidmouth in the 196os was very much a "folkie" place all year round; I used to go there a lot and stay at "The Winter Gardens " (end of Fore Street ) and to clubs in the area ; Weymouth (Fountain Hotel) Dorchester (The Chequers ) and Yeovil (The Half Moon) plus Exeter of course,and The White Post at Marston Magna ; never a dull moment or an idle day ! But Sidmouth isn't the same without The Forge of course .My first ever Sidmouth was 1965 (same as Pete Coe, I believe !).
