I had supper with his nibs and his cous in a reasonably clean Bed & Breakfast. I recall the chef offered a choice of roast beef dinner and/or hamburgers if the roast was overdone (tardy they were). Ale was available but, graciously, they BTOB. The featured entertainer was in fine form and many lies and laughs were told until a late hour. Breakfast was hearty... tea... lots of tea. >;-)
