The BLTs at my house are stand-alone meals. I make the bread, I grow the tomatoes. The rest is standard fare from the grocery store, though I've been meaning to start making mayonnaise. I only make them during the season of home-grown tomatoes so they are treated like sandwich royalty. And because the slices (bread and tomato) are generous, a sandwich is enough by itself for a meal.
