Amergin... sorry you are wrong. I don't know where you live but Nov 1 was not the first day of the year in the UK. Even back as far as 1538 which was when the parish churches were ordered by parliament to keep records of births, marriages and deaths, the year started on 25th March.. the first of the "English quarter days". So 24th March 1538 was followed by 25th March 1539. This was not changed until 1782.
