If it's something I know, I'll probably play it. I don't that many well known songs. I was playing a rare bar gig in my younger days. A bachelor party type outing occurred right in front near the stage. About a dozen guys were drinking a lot and passing out "novelty" gifts to the future groom. The future groom asked me if I knew any Simon & Garfunkle. I said, sorry I didn't know any. About every twenty minutes thereafter, he would say, is he gonna play any Simon & Garfunkle or what? After about the fifth repeat of that comment, I said I don't know any f---ing Simon & Garfunkle, if I did I would have played it long ago. That's why I probably didn't do too many solo bar gigs.
