Kicking the bucket down the road, more like...all this Glorious Dead stuff. OK, perhaps it's not quite so blatant now, but can you tell me there really isn't any of it in all of this? Squaddies collecting for poppies, digging into the sense of duty which lets politicians get away with causing wars. If it's "Let's not go there again" then why isn't it being said? We're still in the land of "Dulci et decorum est", unless it's being positively said otherwise.
And yes, I spent more than a few years taking serius responsibilities in the area. We tried teaching the military that policy is about peace. Somehow, I don't think they've really got it yet.
