This too shall pass. In 2016 there are 24 Republican senate seats being contested compared to just 9 for the Democrats. Some of those Rep. seats were gained during the fading tea party fad so they'll be especially vulnerable and factoring in several likely retirements the GOP may be in for just a 2 yr. stint in charge of the upper chamber. If history is any indicator expect Republicans to over reach with their conservative agenda and alienate a good chunk of the electorate, especially the poor and minorities whose voting rights they've desperately (and shamefully) tried to curtail.

Democratic Senate losses were about average since WWII for the party in the White House during a 2nd term midterm election and House losses were below average so the sky ain't falling for the Democrats contrary to what GUEST (who sounds a lot like Goofus with better syntax) thinks.
