Well, I think one problem is solved and I MAY have an explanation for some of the others.

I tried charging my phone from the outlet where I charge my iPad -- and it not only charged, but when I checked it and unplugged it so I could take it to work, the phone then actually turned on.

So now my UPS -- or perhaps where the UPS is plugged in -- is suspect. Of course, I can't follow through and verify one way or the other right now because I'm at work, but there's a chance the outlet (which is also where the printer HAD been plugged in) may need to have the breaker reset. At least it's something that needs to be tried.

At least I know there's no problem with my cell. So check one thing off the list...
