One doesn't have to subscribe to any particular belief [I don't -- unless you count atheism but let's not go there again!]] to be nevertheless fully aware that our entire culture is inescapably based on & permeated by the teachings of our Xtian tradition as one of its most potent influences. Good god, even you can surely see that's what "Our christian background" means, for christs sake! No specific subscription to the faith is subsumed by the term.
