I had legal papers delivered - late - by the post office, but it turned out that the DHL driver had dropped the overnight package at the right number on the wrong street. Despite being a distinct package with a large shipping label, that party opened the package, examined the papers, then stuffed them sideways into the envelope (so it wouldn't close and it bent all of the "sign here" tabs) and a couple of days later they gave it to the postal carrier and asked what to do with it. She kindly brought it to us, but a new set had already been sent overnight. I could have strangled that neighbor.

Another time a company dealing with paperwork to do with buying my house insisted they needed my physical address (even though I never checked or used the apartment mail boxes) to send important papers. I reluctantly agreed if they would only use it that one time and would delete it from their system. So when another set of papers didn't arrive at my appropriate address I checked, and yes, the fools had sent it to the apartment I no longer occupied. I knocked on their door to ask, but they denied ever receiving them. I never did find those papers, full of confidential information and social security numbers. Now I simply refuse to give an address other than the one I want them to use. They can figure it out.

My bills all go to my P.O. Box and that has a different zip code than the house, so it's like having an extra PIN built in. When I use my credit card to buy gas I have to punch in the zip code, and if my wallet went missing the driver's license zip code doesn't match any of the cards in the wallet. It might slow an identity thief for a few minutes, anyway.
