Re the possible "Up Jumped the Devil" link, it looks unlikely. Ira Ford, Traditional Music in America, 1940, Hatbox, Pa, Folklore Associates, 1967, p 62, has the following, also quoted in the Fiddler's Companion website section dealing with "Devil's Dream," but it seems clearly unrelated.
