Sitting in front of the fire and observing would be acceptable behaviour for a dog in your position, Spotty, until you get the feel of the gathering. Nobody would interrogate you- it's just the front room of a pub, after all. Plenty of other people go in who aren't there for the music, so no-one would know you unless you chose to let on. I do remember how hard it was for me to summon up the courage to walk in to the Jolly, the first time I went, but I am soglad I did.
