Subject: RE: BS: A coincidence I found amazing
So this morning, searching for something on youtube to occupy my mind over breakfast, I chose at random a lecture on Wordsworth's "Westminster Bridge", the full title of which, I had forgotten, informs us that it is set in "London, 1802". Fast forward eight hours or so, I put on a DVD of the movie version of 'Vanity Fair' - the opening scene has at the bottom, the words, "London, 1802". Flash forward another few hours, and, waiting for someone to do something, I'm reading just a couple of pages from a memoir by the Prince Edward Island writer Lucy Maud Montgomery - at this point in her story (July, 1912), she has just arrived in London, and is staying in a hotel "in Russell Square, the haunt of so many of the characters in Vanity Fair", the more important of which she goes on to name and reminisce upon.
