My one reminiscence of Mary O'Hara:In the late Fifties on the Ed Sullivan show, Sullivan ran a film-strip that had been shot in Ireland. I believe he introduced it by saying that Mary O'Hara had just won some harpers' competition (or some other award).
The film-strip showed Mary O'Hara seated on a green hillside, flanked by two other young women, all three with harps. They were playing and singing The Castle of Dromore in three-part harmony. That was one of the most beautiful and affecting things I have ever seen or heard.
Although, believe it or not, that was the only time I have ever seen or heard Mary O'Hara (I looked for records at the time, but couln't find any), I have never forgotten it.
