Our Sal's New Bonnet

Hasta seen our Sal's new bonnet, it's a stunner an no mistek
Gorra a wreath o roses round it an a feather stuck reet down't back

Our Sal went to chuch on Sunday an't parson seys "t'aint a flower
show missis it's a place o warship this".

Our Sal got reet ratty an wi a bit o pluck stood up an said
"parson tha head's bald, tha's got now in it an nowt on it, wouldsta
like a feather outa my new bonnet/"


I learned this from Sheila Dutton at Anston Primary School, (12 miles from Sheffield) in what was the West Riding, about 65 years ago.
