Today the toe area of the sole of my favorite pair of leather loafers blew out. I don't think anyone resoles shoes any more - I might call around and ask, but these weren't that expensive. I do like them, though.

Dorothy, the lame brains in my village city hall have decided to fog an extensive part of the village to kill mosquitoes. Never mind it doesn't work, they're going to endanger a lot of stuff, kill beneficial insects, make sensitive people sick, all to get mosquitoes that 1) aren't out that time of night, 2) are probably in the back yard and the trucks will spray the front yards and 3) can kill bees, fish, and cats. That's the part about synthetic pyrethroids that needs to be really emphasized, I suppose, to get people to empty the standing water in their yards and deal with the issues house by house.
