I think anyone who reads Sinead O'Connor for explanations of what she is up to is in for some bizarre times. I confess that I always await her ramblings and interviews with interest simply because she has no idea from one week to another what she likes or hates. She is one of the world's great haters, like Carlyle. You can never really be sure what is going to come out -- the Pope has a secret lair in Macchu Picchu, etc. As Yeats said, the best lack all conviction, the worst are full of passionate intensity. It would be nice if she were more tightly focussed --certainly more dangerous, as far as I can tell. None of it really matters. She sings like an avenging banshee.
